Kicks Keep On Kicking

On June 11th the Orlando Kicks played their second game of the year versus Team Boca Blast.  The game started at a fast pace with both sides eager to stamp their authority on the game.   After a long spell of possession, Sierra Lelii opened the scoring with a great move around the keeper.  The Kicks followed with great possession and a 2nd goal from the Kicks’ leading scorer, Uchenna Kanu.  Elin Svennson rounded out the scoring to make the final score 3-0.  A great win for the Orlando Kicks.  Overall solid in possession, limited the opposition’s attack and enjoyed a number of other opportunities on goal.

On June 12th the Orlando Kicks played their first away match of the season versus Florida Sol.  The 1pm kick-off proved to be very difficult conditions for both sides as the weather was very hot and humid.   The match kicked off with good intensity with half chances for both sides.  The Kicks started to gain a bit more territorial advantage and benefited from a neatly tucked away finish from Sierra Lelii, her second goal in just as many games.  The 2nd half proved to be a challenging start as the Sol put the Kicks under a great amount of pressure.  The back line of Emily Richardson, Selena Jaimes, Olivia Bergau and Vic Covas stood their ground and prevented the Sol from getting back into the game.  Against the run of play, the Kicks benefited from the great pace of Uchenna Kanu, with a great finish to put the Kicks up 2-0.  To see things out, Kayla Curatolo wiped in a great corner kick to the head of Selena Jaimes.  The final score was 3-1 and the Kicks stay undefeated.
